Legal Community Celebrates Its New Magazine at Trump Tower

JUST., Ontario’s Legal Landscape Curated for Ontario Lawyers

Toronto’s lavish Trump International Hotel and Tower was the ideal setting for the launch of Ontario’s newest and freshest legal magazine, the Ontario Bar Association’s (OBA) JUST.

JUST. is Ontario law, illuminated. It is the voice of the OBA and its members, shedding light on industry developments and providing a wide range of fresh perspectives on the news and events that matter to lawyers. Over one year in development, JUST. is the result of an OBA magazine reader survey and the publishing, legal and branding expertise of the OBA, its members and award-winning branding agency Espresso Group Inc. of Toronto.

“In December 2011 we conducted a very successful reader survey, inviting our readers to provide specific feedback on what they want from a legal magazine. The responses made it very clear that our previous publication, Briefly Speaking, had run its course. We followed up with several detailed stakeholder interviews and worked with Espresso Group Inc. to create a brand that lawyers can identify with,” said JUST.’s editor Catherine Brennan.

JUST. talks to its readers as people, not just lawyers, and knows that there is more to the industry than the billable hour. JUST. aims to provide a good balance of industry and lifestyle content, offering a constant source for new ideas and fresh perspectives. JUST.’s fresh new design, evocative tone and shorter, practical articles appeal to today’s busy practising lawyer.

“JUST. sets itself apart from other legal publications by offering an enlightened view of what matters to Ontario lawyers according to Ontario lawyers.” said OBA President, Paul R. Sweeny of Hamilton. “The OBA is a member-driven association and its magazine is no different. It is written and published for lawyers by lawyers. As practising Ontario lawyers, the members of the JUST. editorial board have an unmatched ability to determine what matters to the bar in this province.” continued Sweeny.

JUST. joins a well established spectrum of respected Canadian legal publications that amply serve lawyers of most interests and needs, with one exception – geography. JUST. was created to take its proper place in the legal publication mix and effectively and specifically target the Ontario lawyer niche.

The JUST. launch event at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto on Wednesday, May 23, welcomed members of the publishing, advertising and legal communities to a lavish evening that included a JUST. cover photo shoot with take away photos for all guests, interactive games courtesy of a prototype 42″ HP touch screen, private guest tours of the Trump facilities and of course sumptuous canapés and drinks.

MORE ABOUT JUST.
JUST. is published six times a year by the Ontario Bar Association and has a controlled distribution of 18,000 copies, which are sent to all OBA members, to local law libraries, law libraries and Ontario politicians. JUST. is available in print format to Ontario Bar Association members and is available to the wider public via its website, JUSTMAG.ca, (available June 1) and its tablet application. The tablet app. was developed using MAG+ and will be available as of June 11, on all major brand mobile devices.
