Grant Swedak, BA (Hons), JD
Grant is a Lawyer at WEL Partners with experience in estate litigation, estate administration, and estate planning. Grant earned his Juris Doctorate from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University, prior to which he attended and received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Queen’s University.
Before joining WEL Partners, Grant completed his articles at a highly esteemed estate litigation boutique in downtown Toronto. During this time, he gained a breadth of experience assisting with complex estate disputes including will challenges, guardianship applications, and contested passing of accounts. During his prior experience in estate planning, he gained valuable experience assisting in the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, and trust agreements.
While at Lakehead University, Grant achieved highest standing in Property Law before going on to be the Property Law Dean’s Fellow (Teaching Assistant). He also served as a Research Assistant furthering his professor’s research into the area of Aboriginal Law and its potential to be incorporated into Aboriginal wills via the Indian Act.
When not enamoured by the law, Grant enjoys an active lifestyle. Often accompanied by his dog Raider, he can be found weightlifting, hiking, sailing, or coaching/competition in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
